General advice about…
Before you come and see us…
Before you come and visit us, we suggest you:
- take all measurements of the room or wall you want to furnish, drawing a perimeter map; note down features, size and position of openings, doors, windows, any radiators or aircon units; mark the position of power, TV and telephone sockets as well as the layout of wiring for lights; also make note of materials, colour and finishings used on walls, floors, upholstery, doors, windows, stairs and anything else that may be useful; in the case of a kitchen or bathroom, also note the position of water, gas and position and size of fume outlets.
- at the showroom, we invite you to take time to experience the comfort of our beds, sofas and chairs.
Lighting
it is better to create a welcoming functional atmosphere for different activities, using several artificial light sources in the same room (standard lamps, spots, table lamps and wall lights) instead of a single central ceiling light. It is also better to use adjustable lamps to provide good illumination for work zones, avoiding shadows that can tire the eyes.
At the same time it is important to encourage the use of natural light, with pale reflective surfaces and lightweight curtains.
Colours
the use of warm or cold, dark or light colours can change perception of a room's proportions. The former seem to come forward, the latter seem to move back. Pale colours tend to open up a room, while darker shades create the opposite effect. However, it is the overall effect of all the furnishings that produces a pleasing look and therefore the use of darker warmer colours can even be recommended for quite small rooms, if they contribute to the success of the overall project.
Rugs, cushions, accessories, lamps and linen (table or bed) help to give special allure to a room, lending it character and making it more pleasant and more appealing. With these accessories even special colours or precious finishes can be dared, as they can be replaced more often and more easily.
And changing them will give the room an effortless new look.
The kitchen
More than any other part of the house the kitchen is the room where it is necessary to organise available space and rationalise worktops (sinks, hob, worktop and shelves), which must be well-lit. Work tools and recipients of all kinds must have their own home in storage units to ensure a tidy kitchen, a clean functional room, suitable for entertaining, built using quality materials that are resistant to stains and scratches and easy to keep clean.
Bedrooms
The bedroom is increasingly becoming a living area and not just somewhere to sleep: in the bedroom we sometimes work on our computer, watch TV, listen to music or chat.
Not just the classic trio wardrobe-bed-bedside tables therefore, but also small armchairs, desks and small storage units or shelves, to create unusual functional corners. In the bedroom too, colour can be used to give character and communicate welcome and intimacy. Lighting must be chosen with care, with the stress on suffused lights and warm tones.
The living area
The living area is for family and friends and always needs comfortable seating and a series of furnishing accessories (TV unit, glass cabinets, bookcases and also tables and shelves) so that different areas for different uses can co-exist in the same room: TV corner and relaxation, dining area or others. The trend is for a chic sophisticated living area, with the use of welcoming shapes, excellent materials, decorations and colour combinations or furniture in different styles. The use of accessorised modular elements is increasingly more popular.
The dining area
The dining table is an important feature for entertaining in the day area. The choice of shape and size depends on the proportions of the room, any obstructions and the position of doors; for each diner you will need a space of approximately 65 cm.
Chairs used to have the same specific table design, but today the tendency is to use different styles, colours and shapes.
